ABOUT COMMISSIONS. Hello. I'm the portrait artist
Nancy Boreham. Thank you far visiting my web site. I have been a fine artist
for nearly 40 years.
Your
portrait combines fine art, technology and my creative abilities. Your original
painting begins with your photograph. This can be a formal photography studio
sitting or a candid picture taken with your camera (digital, APS or 35mm).
From the picture you send to me [returned with finished portrait], I draw& paint
using your picture as visual reference. We can go about doing your portrait two
ways. The first is a GICLEE PRINT. Every brush stroke and line is by my hand
using a stylus and graphics tablet. One brushstroke after the other builds up
color, lights & darks. This is printed on fine watercolor paper. It is
much the same process as when I use my traditional art materials, which brings
us
to the second portrait option. If you chose to have a CLASSIC OIL PAINTING
(richer colors and more texture, then the above process is applied but with
oil paint.
Oils are the slowest of mediums to dry. Once your oil painting is finished
and approved, (emails are sent to show progress) there will he a minimum of
4 weeks
for the paint to set up and dry prior to shipping. The variables are seasonal.
The computer is a marvelous tool. Just like the camera, I scan your developed
picture or input your digital photographs. Many tiny details normally too small
for the human eye to discern when viewing a photograph or when painting from
life, can be found This is especially exciting when resurrecting a vintage
family photograph. Referring to these details once forgotten or never noticed,
adds
to a wonderful likeness for the portrait, GICLEE or OIL. If you select to have
your portrait in OIL PAINT, the stretched canvas with dried oil paint is then
mailed TO you If you select GICLEE on FINE WATERCOLGR PAPER, your portrait
is then printed. Turnaround is a great deal speedier. A benefit of choosing
GICLEE
print is if it is ever lost or damaged, replacements can be produced from your
digital files that I archive and store. I am often commissioned TO create paintings
of my client loved ones, of all ages, who have passed away. Big anniversaries.
Birthdays and pets are frequent requests. My family looks forward to a birthday
or holiday since I often make their gift a personal portrait. Painting brings
me great joy and peace.
